The Accounting Manager supports this mission by overseeing the tax accounting and compliance functions related to the company's real estate portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding of real estate tax regulations, tax planning, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will manage tax-related activities, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and provide strategic tax advice to support the company's real estate investments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Tax Accounting and Compliance:- Manage the day-to-day tax accounting operations for the company's real estate portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations related to real estate.
- Prepare and review tax returns and filings for real estate assets.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax records and documentation.
- Conduct quality assurance testing to ensure the accuracy and completeness of tax filings and records.
Financial Reporting:- Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax reports for real estate investments.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide tax-related financial information and support to internal stakeholders.
- Prepare and review balance sheets related to real estate tax accounting.
Tax Planning and Strategy:- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company's real estate investments.
- Provide strategic tax advice to support acquisitions, dispositions, and financing of real estate assets.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company's real estate portfolio.
Audit Coordination:- Coordinate with external auditors during tax audits, providing necessary documentation and ensuring timely completion.
- Create and implement internal testing of workpapers, accounting, and operational procedures and controls
- Address and resolve any tax-related issues identified during audits.
- Prepare and maintain work papers to support audit processes and tax filings.
Process Improvement:- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of tax accounting operations.
- Develop and maintain tax accounting policies and procedures.
Team Management:- Supervise and mentor staff accountants, providing guidance and support.
- Manage the workload and project assignments of the team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably within the real estate sector.
- Experience in managing a team of tax accountants.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with real estate accounting software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, real estate tax regulations, and tax accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with auditors, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation:The Tax Accounting Manager compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. This range is subject to local, state and regional dynamics and may be adjusted up or down depending on market conditions.
Physical Demands:- Requires extended hours to meet specific monthly or project related due dates
Supervisory Responsibility:- This position provides leadership, instruction, and mentoring to accounting team
