Location: San Diego, Normal Heights neighborhood

Schedule Morning shifts (approx. 7:30-4:00)

We’re a mission-driven nonprofit café (MAKE Cafe) focused on food, community, and opportunity. Our kitchen is a training ground where experienced cooks work alongside refugee and immigrant students, building skills, confidence, and pathways into the culinary industry.

What You’ll Do:

● Execute prep and service for a fast-paced breakfast/lunch café

● Maintain consistency, quality, and cleanliness in all stations

● Support and mentor student trainees during daily operations

● Assist with prep lists, inventory, and kitchen organization

● Uphold food safety and sanitation standards

What We’re Looking For:

● At least 1 year of line cook experience

● Strong knife skills and basic cooking techniques

● Ability to work early morning shifts and stay organized under pressure

● Clear communication and a positive, team-first attitude

● Interest in mentoring or working in a multicultural environment

The employee must frequently raise objects weighing 25 pounds or less and from a lower position to a higher position or move such objects horizontally from position-to-position, and occasionally raise or move objects weighing more than 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Work Environment: This position requires a full-time, in-person schedule Wednesday through Sunday. Our current restaurant service hours are 9am-2pm, with occasional private dinners and special events. Subject to change as we grow.
