JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

STAFF ENGINEER POSITION:
Description of Role: Under general direction of the Operations Director and General Manager, this position provides responsible planning, implementation, and management of assigned projects and programs. This position is responsible for engineering related assignments in areas of water, sewer, parks and recreation, street light design, construction, operation and maintenance. Position requires knowledge of water service delivery, sewer service delivery, civil engineering, environmental regulations as well as regulations governing public works and related projects. Work will include oversight of water/sewer system and building infrastructure developments and/or upgrades, environmental restorations and/or upgrades and other related assignments. Work will include but not be limited to ensuring required environmental compliance; permitting compliance; coordination of activities with contractors, engineers, regulatory agencies, and District staff.

Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week) position, generally Monday through Friday. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Salary: $7,673 to $10,501 per month plus benefits including retirement pension, health and dental insurance and paid time off accrual.

Qualifications and Knowledge Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from a college or university of recognized standing with major coursework in civil, environmental, sanitary or hydraulic engineering.
• A minimum of three (3) years related work, preferably with a public agency.
• Must be a California licensed Professional Civil Engineer or be able to become licensed within 3 years of employment.
• Knowledge of engineering, administrative and government agency terms.
• Knowledge of public works construction methodology and oversight practices including Public Contracting Code, California potable water and wastewater regulations, CEQA and other environmental regulations
• Knowledge of applicable computer programs to potable water, wastewater, parks and recreation, and streetlights.
• Knowledge of engineering design and plan review criteria and practices.
• Knowledge of budgeting, accounting and project management methods.
• Ability to accept constructive criticism from supervisors and coworkers.
• Ability to effectively supervise and work with department staff and contractors.
• Must possess a valid Class C California Driver’s License at the time of employment.
