HR Manager - Gerber

Now, we're looking for a Human Resources Manager to help shape the future of our Portland manufacturing site.

About the Role

As the HR Manager, you'll be the key driver of people strategy at our Portland site, leading both office and manufacturing HR initiatives. You'll work closely with leaders and employees to ensure our people programs are effective, compliant, and aligned with business goals-while also helping us create an engaging and inclusive workplace culture.

This role is a critical part of our on-site leadership team, reporting directly to senior HR leadership and collaborating across the organization. Union experience is highly valued, as is a passion for supporting frontline and salaried team members alike.

What You'll Do

Recruiting & Staffing: Lead full-cycle recruitment for both full-time and temporary roles, ensuring we attract and retain top talent.
Training & Development: Create and deliver training programs to boost knowledge, compliance, and performance across the site.
Employee Relations & Engagement: Serve as a trusted partner and advocate, managing policies, recognition programs, employee events, and conflict resolution.
Onboarding & HR Operations: Provide a best-in-class new hire experience while maintaining accurate HRIS (Workday) and employee records.
Safety & Workers' Compensation: Champion a culture of safety and well-being in partnership with leadership and risk teams.
Legal & Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal employment regulations, including labor relations and investigations.
Total Rewards: Administer compensation and benefits programs and provide education on available offerings.

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree in human resources, Psychology, or related field
5-7 years of progressive HR experience-ideally within a distribution or manufacturing setting
Prior union experience strongly preferred
Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR practices
Proficiency in HR systems like Workday or UltiPro
A collaborative spirit with a drive for problem solving, communication, leadership, and customer focus
