Role Summary:

Gearbox Software is looking for a full-time Expert Generalist Programmer to join our development team. As a member of the programming team, they will assist with a wide array of engineering tasks ranging from gameplay programming to console development. The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with design teams to prototype and implement gameplay features to a high standard of quality
Craft new systems with designer usability in mind
Work in or build new engine features and tools
Support product performance goals by architecting and implementing systems with performance in mind
Fix bugs and optimize code in existing systems
Create both technical and designer-facing documentation
Implement appropriate testing and debugging support as needed
Contribute to the overall technical direction of the project by participating in architectural design sessions and code reviews
Mentor less experienced programmers

Qualifications:
Excellent understanding of C++
Excellent communication skills
Able to work closely with designers and programmers in strike teams
Independent and self-motivated
Professional game development experience
Multiple shipped titles in a programmer role
Console development experience
8+ years game industry experience

Bonus Points For:

Programming experience with first or third person shooter games
Experience with Unreal Engine
